Topic: The Flower Kings Best Album Posted: February 23 2014 at 16:57 |
I've avoided The Flower Kings for years, but on a whim bought Desolation Rose and found that I liked it a lot. What is your favorite album of theirs?

Definitely the first. I'll never understand all the love for Unfold, actually anything between Space Revolver and TSoNE.

Just got Stardust We Are but have only heard it once. It could perhaps take the place of my current favorite, Space Revolver, but I will reserve judgment until I am more familiar with it.

Very, very tough.... I went with Stardust today but could see myself backing Space Revolver as well.

I have 6 of those albums including the 2 that are getting most votes but I voted Banks Of Eden. Great comeback album with Desolation Rose only a very slightly disappointing follow up ( but still good).

All albums are good. I'll vote for the first one.

The best disc they ever released is Flower Power disc one. Disc two pales in comparison but even if you prefer to use disc two as a beermat (it really isn't at all bad though) the album is still a 5-star jobby thanks to the genius of Garden of Dreams.
If you want the most consistently brilliant album with no weak points look no further than Space Revolver.

Adam & Eve does not seem to get a lot of love, but I think the songwriting and originality of that album set it apart from the rest. I didn't like it at first, but it has grown to be my favorite. Paradox Hotel would be my least favorite. Banks of Eden is my favorite newer one.

Banks of Eden or Desolation Rose. The band had a flying start, slumped in the '00's, and now have come back with a refined and what might be called matured sound. For me, hard to choose between the two recent ones.

From the ones I've heard, Banks Of Eden. Prefer their more modern stuff.

1) Stardust We Are 9.5/102) The Sum Of No Evil 9.5/10 3) Space Revolver 9/10 4) Banks Of Eden 9/10 5) Unfold The Future 8.5/10 6) Flower Power 8/10 7) Desolation Rose 8/10 8) Adam & Eve 7.5/10 9) Paradox Hotel 7.5/10 10) Retropolis 7/10 11) The Rainmaker 7/10 12) Back In The World Of Adventures 6.5/10 The Flower Kings are one of my favorite bands ever (definitely Top 5) but I don't understand all the rave reviews for the first album. Besides "Big Puzzle" it's always left me cold. And the lack of love for The Sum Of No Evil is bewildering. That album is so great. But that is one of the cool things about them - it seems every fan has a different favorite album!

Roine Stolt's first solo album, prior to band official formation, The Flower King.
