Mullmuzzler sort of proves that DT is about music. Only heard the sample track for Planet X and hated it (I really, really hate silences in the middle of songs, still have to edit the mp3 from SiyS (which I do like, as long as it lasts).

I have the first two transatlantic CDs.  Like a lot of prog these days, there are certainly moments of great stuff, but I can't stand having to wade through 20 minutes of useless chord changes and lyrics that read like someone made them by throwing darts at words in TV Guide then going hmmm...what rhymes with Children?  err...wildren..noooo...buildren...ooo that's close..Filled them...OOOOOOO...I think we can get 40 minutes outa that.

Does anybody hate:

Liquid Tension Experiment (much better than Dream Theater and I like them)

Mullmuzzler

Jordan Rudess

Transatlantic

Planet X

If I come up with anything else involving (ex) members of Dream Theater I'll post it.

I hate Rudess' glasses on the cover of "Rhythm of Time".

I place the blame for DT's problems on this guy. There was a LOT more control in their music when Moore was there.

BUT...I am wondering how Rhythm of Time is--seriously, no flaming! I mean, is he different away from DT?

And what about Mullmuzzler? Is that anything like Elements of Persuasion, or different?

DeadStarted listening to DT in the 90's when I didn't know any Prog was still being recorded.  With the proliferation of the internet, I got back into Prog (new stuff and classic 70's)  I then proceeded to rid myself of the 4 DT, releases that I had.

When I bought the DT music, I really didn't know of the other great stuff that was out there.  Now I can't even listen to it.  Most of which I think is because of James Labrie.

Just about every album since Discipline is reminescent of 'jazz' improvisation where every sounds as if they are all doint their own thing. My oppinion of course

Yea - I find those unlistenable, especially the experiments on Lark's
