For me, Italian and Spanish are much easier to understand than Romanian, so I'm assuming it the same the other way around?

Aginor's right; I understand a lot of French without any effort. In Romanian, what's not Latin from the very beginning, was borrowed from French during the modernization in the 19th century. Local influences are only in the third place (Slavonic, Turkish, Hungarian). That's obvious when you read, but when hearing it it does sound more like Portuguese and Catalan.

Yeah, Romanian sounds like Italian + generic slavic sounds IMO. But I did not knew it had so much influence from French.

The purely Latin side of Romanian is a language of peasants, covering only basic activities, objects, all relating to the not every eventful life of a peasant. When modernization came every new activity, object or concept needed words, which were borrowed from French because 1) they're sister languages and 2) all the country's elite was Francophile, studying in France, living in France, etc.

For example, all the thousands of words related to medicine were borrowed and just slightly adapted to sound Romanian.

Médecine became medicină
Chirugien -> chirurg
Traitement -> tratament
Analgésique -> analgezic
Amputation -> amputare
Pédiatrie -> pediatrie

and so forth. That's what happened to Law, Engineering, theoretical and social sciences, etc.

I have about 3 years of Spanish class under my belt, and about 15 years to have forgotten just about everything I learned.

Maroon 5 in PA = Fail. No matter what I've said about the impurity and non-perfection of prog and how good it is that people like whatever music they want.

Sorry, I had to get lunch.  Which album did you pick?  I was going to suggest Pallaschtom, since it's got the medleys and such, so at least partially instrumental.  I'll still link that and an Art Zoyd (who I'm sure you'll probably like a bit more than Ruins).  What French Zeuhl have you tried?

Ah, I see you picked Symphonica.  I haven't liked the samples I heard from that one very much, I prefer just the drums/bass duo for Ruins music.

I think I missed your comments regarding Supernal Endgame.  What did you think of them?

Well then you may enjoy both of the non-Ruins links there (plus the Ruins link is different from Symphonica, no female vocalists, less instruments, etc.).
