I voted 'none of the above'

None of them bore me as such, although I was tempted to vote for Gentle Giant. What I've heard of them evokes a reaction of 'so what'

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I'm beginning to realise that one thing that really bores me is negativity.

^ I'm with Blacksword and Pixel on this one.

I'm sure that polls can be an intersting way of getting to know the other people on the board up to a point (as are the 'list' posts) but the 'worst ever', 'most boring', 'last to grow a brain cell' posts make me feel that the vast majority of people are here to state or impose rather than exchange their views.

I'm pressing the DULL button with extreme vigour.

I agree. My comments about Gentle Giant may have come across quite negative, but I should stress I am not bored by them, I'm just indifferent to them.

Everyone finds some artists boring and predictable. Whats the point in talking about them??

Sorry...

My feelings exactly,Blacksword. It might just be my imagination but there seems to be a lot of negativity on this forum recently, and I can't see the point of it,and while I would never start a thread bashing some band or something else along the same lines,I do admit to being weak enough to be sucked into a thread like that if it's started by someone else which I don't think does anyone any good. It definitely doesn't do me any good!

A lot of music can be boring, it just depends on how your mood is at the time you are listening. There is a huge diference between activity and action, so when your day is piled up with activity, you'll become bored pretty fast. If your day is filled with action boredom never reaches you ! I have very little positive to say about Dream Theater and rarely I listen to them. Magma is a band that IMO is WAYYYYYYY overrated, and wouldnt let them spin on the cd player more than 3 minutes.

I voted for Pink Floyd,by the way. They always send me to sleep. In fact just thinking of "Dark Side Of The Moon" makes my eyelids start to feel heavy.....

Dream theatre is not boring, it's unbearable, i don't know why it's quoted so often on this site.

GG is boring!

ELP is a little boring, and moreover, dated!

No band bores me, I either like them or I don't.  If I don't like them I don't listen to them.  Whether you like DT or not is irrelevant, but to accuse them of lacking passion is a cheap shot.

Others:

Jon Anderson Solo or Jon & Vangelis: 20 Mgms. of Valium wouldn't have 50% of the effect this music causes on me.

Marillion: Causes almost the same effect, can't understand the interest on this band.

Jean Michel Jarre: Boring music except when it's on a DVD where you can watch the show that is more interesting than his music.

Post W&W Genesis: It's only boring until Duke, after that induces me to vomit.

Kraftwerk: Just the memory of Radioactivitat makes me want to go to bed.

without forgetting some Tangerine dream which is the most soporific band i know!

I voted Other - I'd go for RAP music !

If any of the bands listed bores you - find another site to post your "popophile" views ! - none of the listed bands bore me - some I've not heard but the rest have produced fine, fine music !

Its one of those days, I'm afraid. I'm finding it hard to take anything seriously..

Anyway, I've no problem with ELP. I dont find them boring, just a little over the top. That said, I'm loving 'Tarkus' at the moment.

When it comes to truly boring bands, I have to say that I cant really think of anyone off the top of my head....

Thats my last word on the subject..

What is the problem with Dream Theater?  You either like them or you don't.  If you don't listen to something else and post how good they are.

Think positive!

Le psychologue américain Edwin G. Boring était un grand admirateur de Helmholtz, à qui il dédia en 1942 son ouvrage fondamental intitulé Sensation et perception dans l’histoire de la psychologie expérimentale.

Top Ten Reasons Why YOU Don't Listen to Gentle Giant

- by Extasia ([email protected])

10. Won't listen to a group represented by a giant who moonlighted for
a vegetable company and had a sidekick named "Little Sprout"

 9. Could not find them on Saturday Night Fever soundtrack

 8. Never saw them on Soul Train

 7. Band once toured with Jethro Tull of the Beverly Hillbillies (Ellie
May would have made a much prettier back-up singer)

 6. Band members never did gigs with the E Street Band

 5. Parallel fifths

 4. Did they ever have a hit like "You Light Up My Life"?

 3. No way to incorporate Letterman into a Gentle Giant list

 2. Band never quite mastered the I-IV-V-I progression

 1. Three words: too many notes

Shame on you!
