Errr, Friede, can you please elaborate on this:

...and he has the thickest upper arms I have ever seen...

If that's an English mistake you go and pay Jean. If not, I think you need some anatomy lessons...
I understand you don't like men, but believe me, we can be weird and hairy, but we don't have lower arms...

 From a German-English online dictionary:
upper arm [anat.]   der Oberarm

That part of the arm which is between elbow and shoulder.

Not that I needed a dictionary for that.

I could have said "humerus" also, but that usually refers to the bone.

OK, you're right: your English seems to be much better than mine... I was happy with arm and forearm,
arm being an ambiguous term naming both the whole thing and the part (and yes, humerus is only used for the bone).

According to www.wordreference.com:

arm
a human limb; technically the part of the superior limb between the shoulder and
the elbow but commonly used to refer to the whole superior limb

But obviously upper arm is also a correct term... sorry about that... but we don't have lower arms!!!

No, they are called forearms. And don't worry: I have a CPE (Cambridge certificate for Proficiency in English). Also I have been living with an American woman for meanwhle 11 years now, and we switch between German and English all the time.
