Agree or disagree.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Disagree, the occasional vocals add a lot of personality to bands like Samla Mammas Manna.

RIO is more a movement than a genre. So it might include really different bands - both with and without vocals :)

And, i could do without the scary vocals in chamber rock stuff like Univers Zero and Present. But they are only occasional so i don't really mind them.

they definitely should have vocals. they had a political message, and they wanted to convey it. and I would not want to miss Dagmar Krause singing, for example, "On Suicide". eter Blegvad had an interesting voice too (his solo albums are on the borderline to prog; his collaboration with John Greaves, "Kew Rhone", definitely is prog in the avantgarde vein though)

I like RIO with vocals!

Some good RIO vocalists:
Lars Hollmer (Samla Mammas Manna and solo)
Dagmar Krause (Slapp Happy/Henry Cow and Art Bears)
Curt Wilson (5uu's, Motor Totemist Guild)
Emily Hay (Motor Totemist Guild, U Totem)
Susanne Lewis (Thinking Plague, 5uu's)
Sharon Bradford (Thinking Plague)
Bob Drake (Thinking Plague, 5uu's)
Deborah Perry (Thinking Plague, 5uu's)

Yes. And "Kew Rhone" is indeed an excellent album that I'd happily consider RIO.
