Another top 30 this time Zeuhl so five polls of six. I really enjoyed listening to these the last few days and have Pseu, Magma and Eider Stellaire as my top three but I'm going with the latter this time.
Magma is in all five polls and has the most entries of the eight lists I've done. IQ was the leader at 4 on the Neo one.

I like my Rahmann like I like my Japanese noodles, misspelled.
I like all of the albums here and I almost went with the Magma Londres. That Zao was one of the very first Zeuhl albums I got into. Eider Stellaire's 1 also is one of my favourite Zeuhl albums but I will go with ramen, erm, Rahmann. |

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

Zeuhl with Middle Eastern influence (Rahmann) - is a great idea.

You and Ian take Serge, love that self titled opening track. Alain Eckert on guitar, previously with Art Zoyd. Serge is quite the drummer as well similar in style to Tony Williams.

Interesting stuff and I knew you really like that Rahmann album. The liner notes are a fascinating read about the main guys connection with Magma. Helping them set up in a 1972 concert he met Vander and Blasquiz and convinced them to bring Magma to his basement rehearsal room. They checked it out and agreed to practice with him and his band. It's pretty cool that Gerard Prevost, Didier Lockwood and Lisa Deluxe are all on this record. |

The main guy is from Algiers but moved to France at 1 year old with his African/ Asian parents. But yeah you don't usually hear tablas, oud, bouzouki, snitra and darbouka on a Zeuhl album.

Unique stuff. The brothers bought a guitar as young teens and were into the usual Rock music until discovering Caravan and King Crimson. Of course Magma was the game changer for them.

It was that guitar and electric piano that really drew me to Eider Stellaire but all of these albums except the Zao one have guitar, just not as prominent I suppose except for maybe Pseu where on that sixth track the guitar and vocals appear to have lost their minds.

I love the first song on Rahmann but it drops off a bit after that. Osiris is great but it does need a good remix

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Yay! I feel like I have been the lone voice propping up that album for years so thanks for the help. ![]() I'm surprised Rahmann and Zao are leading, I thought for sure it would be between Magma and Eider Stellaire. Not complaining obviously, these are all my favourites. |
