It's been a good two decades and a half run for Progressiveears but its best days are over. A lot of times it can't be accessed and when it can it is very slow. Guests can no longer read it, only those who create an account can. And it's the same couple dozen people talking among themselves while ignoring everyone else. And most of the most active threads have nothing to do with progressive rock or music in general. All good things must come to an end. Maybe the end has come for that website.

They're probably over there saying the same thing about us?

Progressiveears website only has the forum. That is its sole reason to exist. This website is a resource with thousands of band discographies and hundreds of thousands of album reviews. The forum is secondary here at least in my opinion. This website is much more than a discussion forum.

Just like Progarchives.

Quote And most of the most active threads have nothing to do with progressive rock or music in general.
Unless they have some form of autism spectrum, a person can't talk about one very specific topic over and over again. That's not how human beings want to interact with others anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly? I'd say that the Progressiveears forum is doing fine. The posts aren't too frequent but of high quality. These days, there's a general tendency for traditional forums to fall out of style. Most is not all forums are less active today in mid-2025 than back in the 2000s till early 2010s.

Hrychu, you say it is doing fine, but what about all the technical issues? It often can't be accessed and when it can it often runs slow. Also, now only people with an account can read it. I think this has to do you with technical issues and is not by design. However, if the wider public can't read it without creating an account or if it can't be read by members who might be on public computers or other devices where they aren't signed in or don't want to sign in, then many people are being denied the chance to read it. I'm sure the founders never intended that.

Not really.   That's a myopic and fairly bitter attitude.

PE is dealing with robots invading and jamming the site to a halt.

A temporary solution was to make the thread invisible for perusing unless joining up) and it worked for some time, disuading bot attacks.
Whether this is a directed attack from some persisting Soth-East European troll that keeps getting booted out of the site (and this one as well) is not clear yet.

Not so sure, but worth investigating.
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I doubt it for stylistic reasons. If this is the case, Svet has shifted to a different LLM and put aside his recent preoccupation with rats. However, there remains the possibility that he has been banned from PE and his access to the site has been limited.

Old dedicated prog gits are dying off.
Concerns other than posting on forums... like they used to.
