Topic: (About Yes)Which album do you like more ? Posted: December 19 2007 at 23:34 |
The Yes Album is one of the most accessible Yes albums and TFTO is one of the most non-accessible Yes albums. I Wonder which album people like more. Let's poll, please.

Tales from Topographic Oceans. I'll expand tomorrow, right now it's time for sleep.

If you take out a venture, then the Yes album would be an easy five star.
Tales, meh... Not as good.

Too much "noodling" on Tales. Bring on the thick marvellous Hammond organ stylings of Tony Kaye and the Yes Album incarnation of Yes!

The Yes Album by far, maybe their most exciting. Howe's guitar work on it is incredible, really one of the greatest guitar albums ever, very underrated. Tales is background music.

Love TYA, but my vote goes to Topographic Oceans. Not too crazy about the whole Shastic Scriptures thing, but it's one of my favorites anyway.

I don't buy the whole accessible/inaccessible premise on which this poll is based. I don't find Tales to be a particularly challenging album, and although a careful and attentive listen will bring out subtleties in it, the same will happen when you listen to The Yes Album.
Ultimately, The Yes Album is just a better album. Perhaps it is second only to Close To The Edge.

Mmm...difficult choice, but I think I'll go with The Yes Album for its song-oriented structure, though I am not a big fan of Bill Bruford or Tony Kaye...

You said it all. They're too different. Maybe I prefer TFTO, but I find it difficult to vote..

For me The Yes Album. Along with Foxtrot, Dark Side of the Moon and Tubular Bells, is the reason i became interested in prog long years ago. I think TFTO is an albun full of unintresting solo-fillers.

I don't think TFTO isn't accessible (I think it's more accessible than Fragile or Relayer) but TYA is my favourite Yes album, it simply sounds amazing!

I think TFTO is the more rewarding to listen to and has just got better and better as I've grown older. I rarely play TYA now.

Well, let's say that TFTO is surely the less accessible from Yes' works (even if it can be easily loved). I find Fragile the more accessible, and Relayer only needs a thoughtful listening.

TFTO, no doubt. I love the epicity (don't care if it's not a word).

the yes album, the reason is plain and simple: shorter, more accessible songs with catchier tunage, yet still the same level of musicianship.
