Maiden. I'm not a fan of Opeth. Love Mmaiden and the idea they are still active is fantastic news.

The results are as close as I expected them to be. And about as close as they are for me, too. I love both bands, and it is hard to choose between them. I guess I’ll go for Opeth, just because they have more variety, but really there is nothing at all in it. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔

Clearly Opeth. I'm not a great fan of Iron Maiden, really.

Opeth these days.
Later day Maiden is underwhelming to me.

Maiden were my way into metal, and beyond. I have a lot to thank them for..

I'll give the vote to Opeth though. I listen to and enjoy them more in recent years.

Iron Maiden for me...although it’s been a while since I last listened to them. Opeth is a strange case, where I really don’t care for their most acclaimed releases but rather like the debut, Orchid.
Speaking of Iron Maiden. Right around the age of 11-12 I span Live After Death at least once a day for a year. I still know every sound and gesture of that album

Opeth never clicked with me, just like Dream Theater. I'm not fated for popular prog metal.

Maiden all the way, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son all the way.

I went to two Iron Maiden shows and i was very impressed by the energy and the great voice of Bruce Dickinson, great performenr and showman, but i dont listen to his records very often.

I listen Opeth since 1998, love the growls of Mikael and his clean voice, love that mix, my favs albums are "My Arms, Your Hearse", "Still Life" and "Blackwater Park" and  its also a great band to experience live, my vote goes to Opeth

No question, OPeth.

^ Dickinson's solo career is very diverse... The song I shared there is one of the most "uninteresting" ones off of it. I love it but it is rather plain power metal. Try these songs: Tears of the Dragon, Omega, and Darkside of Aquarius. I think you can find these songs on Youtube.

Morningrise is such a cool album. I got into Opeth pretty recently and thought initially I'd probably like the later stuff without growls more, But I realise as pretty much no other band I listen to does death growls, it's a unique thing in my collection and as such I accept it. I love the atmosphere and the guitars on Morningrise (some Maiden influence also to be found).

I should probably check out more of Dickinson's solo work; I liked the one you had in the interactive polls quite a bit.

I'm not much of a cookie monster vocals fan myself. However, since they've shed those in more recent years, I've grown to really enjoy Opeth over the last decade. So, they get my vote.

I was inspired to do this by the thread announcing a new Iron Maiden album. I'm very much not a metal listener, but these two bands do something for me, and I'm curious how preferences are distributed here.
For me, Bruce Dickinson is a reason for Iron Maiden, and I can have a hard time with what I think Mike called cookie monster vocals, but overall, despite often not a fan of their singing, Opeth has such a lot of exciting music that I have to vote for them.
