Yes, my dream is to defy the second law of thermodynamics. I don't accept thermodynamic irreversibility.

But I digress - this is a far cry from Symphonic Metal for sure. Wink

I think it is pretty rad. It made me think of Kingston Wall. I did this when I was a teenager: I played the keyboards, the guitars, the bass and all the MIDI instruments through the controller, although I did adjust the drums with the mouse to make them sound better. I have to make music again sometime:

The mix is very lifeless, I think I have learned a thing or two in the last few years that I should try to apply when I make music again.

                 Left              Right

Peak Value:      0.00 dB   ---     -0.02 dB
Avg RMS:       -12.80 dB   ---    -13.58 dB
DR channel:      9.43 dB   ---     10.47 dB

The dynamic range is not terrible, at least.

With the years, before giving up, I became more interested in classical music:

It was only a matter of time for me to open a thread like this one.

My only somewhat decent mix is for this short jingle I wrote:

A couple more bands:

Abyssic (blackened orchestral epic doom metal):

Try the new Myrath album. I find it to be generic, bland symphonic/power metal. But it is symphonic for sure.

Unfortunately, I know a bit about symphonic metal, but not because I want to, rather because my dad listens to it. For me, symphonic metal is a crossover that merges the worst aspects of power metal and heavy metal. I don't know if there are any symphonic metal bands with a more classical 20th-century music focus. If so, please recommend them.

I can mention "traditional" symphonic metal bands like Rage (zzz), Rhapsody/Rhapsody of Fire (which I have to admit is a very good band with tremendous songs, at least on their earlier albums), and a lesser-known band SkyLark, led by the virtuoso keyboardist EDDY ANTONINI (who, on his debut solo album, does a cover of "Shooting Star" (by the Italian band Actarus) composed by our beloved ARES TAVOLAZZI from Area).

I don't know if you might like this. Light (1997), a 23-minute suite (prog??????) in three parts. Very cheesy symphonic power metal.

It may be spring outside but AUTUMN is here! Don't worry though, because Autumn are a Dutch Gothic Metal band for all seasons, who never made it big for unknown reasons, but they're well-known in Holland's various regions, amongst their fans many legions. Smile
