I did one for 1970 and 2010, and here's one for 2000. I imagine people's faves here would be generally much more limited for 2000 than 1970, but also some do favour more modern music than the more "classic" (or classic Prog era) stuff...

Please mention up to 10 (or more if desired) albums from 2000, and please try to comment on other's selections. One doesn't need to even make one's own list, some find that harder than others, and one can just comment on whatever choices one sees and likes from other people's lists. This is intended for any live or studio, LP or EP or boxset releases from 2000, Prog or not, in PA or not. The main idea behind this was to make a more interactive list making topic that is not limited to Prog where we not only list our favourites but look at other people choices and comment on what we like or finding interesting in those, with an emphasis on the positive.

---------------------------------------------

Ten of my favourites That Sufjan Stevens might well have been first released in 1999.

Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven (Post Rock)
Radiohead - Kid A (Art Rock, Electronic)
Broadcast - The Noise Made By People (Neo-Psychedelia, Indietronica, Dream/Ambient Pop)
Juana Molina - Segundo (Folktronica, Singer-Songwriter, Art Pop)
Bohren & der Club of Gore - Sunset Mission (Dark Jazz)
Air - The Virgin Suicides (Film Score, Ambient Pop, Art Rock)
Ulver - Perdition City (Music to an Interior Film) (Trip Hop, Electronic...)
Boris - Flood (Post-Rock, Drone)
Sufjan Stevens - A Sun Came (or first released in 1999) (Singer-Songwriter, Indie Folk, Indie Rock)
Boards of Canada - In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country EP (IDM, Downtempo)

And five more:
PJ Harvey - Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea (Alternative Rock, Singer-Songwriter)
Silver Mt. Zion - He Has Left Us Alone But Shafts Of Light Sometimes Grace The Corner Of Our Rooms (Post-Rock, Chamber Music, Modern Classical)
Volapük- Polyglot (Avant-Prog)
Sheena Ringo 椎名林檎 - 勝訴ストリップ (Shōso Strip) (Shimokita-kei, Noise Pop)
Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out (Dream Pop, Indie Rock)

That Volapük used to be a favourite of mine, but I have not listened to it in many years. I've only listened to that Yo La Tengo once

--------------------------------------------

And here are the top ten in PA's charts:

Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element - Part 1 (Prog Metal)
Spock's Beard - V (Symphonic Prog)
Symphony X - V - The New Mythology Suite (Prog Metal)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven (Post Rock)
Kevin Gilbert - The Shaming of the True (Crossover Prog)
SMPT:e - Transatlantic (Symohonic Prog)
Fates Warning - Disconnected (Prog Metal)
Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun (Heavy Prog)
IQ - The Seventh House (Neo-Prog)
Lykathea Aflame - Elvenefris (Tech/Extreme Prog Metal)
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Strong year I think. I had a few more titles to consider, but very pleased with the ten I ended up with. As all of them are albums I could choose to listen to - later today.

Bohren & der Club of Gore - Sunset Mission (Dark Jazz)
PJ Harvey - Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea (Alternative Rock, Singer-Songwriter)
Broadcast - The Noise Made by People (Neo-Psychedelia, Dream Pop)
Reflection Eternal - Train of Thought (Conscious Hip Hop, Boom Bap, Jazz Rap)
The Cracow Klezmer Band - De Profundis (Klezmer)
16 Horsepower - Secret South (Gothic Country)
Pram - The Museum of Imaginary Animals (Neo-Psychedelia, Art Pop)
Ween - White Pepper (Alternative Rock, Psychedelic Pop)

Fates Warning - Disconnected is one of my favorites of 2000.
Kevin Moore who played keyboards on Disconnected released his second Chroma Key album in 2000 - You Go Now. Great album (IMO).
