Today, June 18, we published a new lyric video on our YouTube channel, which we created for the song "Broken Light". We would be happy if you take the time to watch it and if you share your impressions!
This is an anti-war song with which we tried to express our position and try to remind that there is nothing more valuable than life. Unfortunately, it seems that the roar of weapons is getting louder and louder!
This of course does not stop us from dreaming that the human race will find a way to shake off its destructive instincts and that there will be a time when we will value and respect our differences without attacking and killing each other and without tolerating the right of the stronger to violently rule over the weaker.

Hi,

(Not a review!!! Just some comments!)

I was around in the late 60's when VietNam was the story, not to mention a few others in America, the ashes and remains of which still stink today's media and elections.

Having come through it (was #9 on the first draft lottery), and did not go and was a Conscientious Objector, for the right reasons. The music, and the arts, AT THE TIME, were quite helpful in bringing up the discontent with the American involvement. These days, this is impossible, because the "arts" have disappeared and the Internet, has become the great ship of fools in the sky, whose opinions are there to confuse you in every way, and distort your thoughts or ideas.

I was into Foreign Son, Ohio, Country Joe, Joan Baez ... and many others, who also spoke the same language I did ... and we succeeded for the most part, with one exception. The American media ended up taking a counter attitude, and still does and trashes a lot of the stuff from those days, and they won't look in the mirror and admit to all the makeup they are putting on, and how they are hiding their intentions.

This makes for a very difficult thought/idea about writing something that is against this or that, and no one can win, regardless of choice. And, the worse part, the more we try to let folks know how harsh the reality is, in some places, the whole thought of an anti-war song, is just like saying you are against the government, or such and such ... and again, the "truth" gets changed into something else ... or worse ... ignored. The American newspapers, instead, will do massive articles on Tom Cruise and his latest film ... and make sure that we ignore the politics!

I don't dislike what you did. I simply think that its ability to say something is much harder than we think, specially when the whole idea and thought is ignored, and not exactly discussed or evaluated.

I can only wish you the best, and hope that is enough help. But I'm not sure I can give your song a good thought or idea. I still hear Creedence Clearwater Revival, Country Joe and the Fish, Joan Baez, Neil Young, and Amon Duul 2 in my HEART ... as if it were yesterday, to give you an idea how it hit an 18 year old at the time. But seeing many folks denying me the thoughts I had that I went through, is scary, and a few times that has happened here on PA, though I do not spend time discussing many of those folks anymore, as compared to my work on "progressive" music and the jazz side of things on the sister board (JMA) ... that for me, makes for a lively, and full day of typing.

I'm not sure that the earth will learn anything, until the day that someone makes a serious mistake, and all of a sudden 1 billion folks are dead. I think, at that moment we will immediately review our "faith" and "our ideas" and how so many of these were destructive, instead of humane and helpful.

Tough time for your song, I wonder. But, sadly, I'm not sure that many more folks will really listen or comment. I want to comment, but I feel the need to be respectful and mindful of the need for us to all be friends, not faith enemies ... the excuses of which are totally horrible all over the world these days!

Just for a comparison. listen to Amon Duul 2's Mozambique in its entirety! Mozambique, btw, got its independence a few months later, but Portugal left behind a mess that is still not fixed!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

First, thank you for the extensive comment! I respect every opinion and the shared experience and knowledge. Before, like you, I thought that human civilization needs a serious shake-up in order to seek some meaningful and sublime path of development. Now I realize that I also have my negative contribution to what humanity represents today and I am trying to find the path of inner humility and to convince myself of what is right and what is wrong. It turned out that with people with whom only a few years ago we were close, friends and associates, now we are almost enemies.
From this perspective, first of all, for me, creating a song is primarily a personal act and is related to what kind of person I am and how the so-called external world is refracted through my own prism. I wrote a song in which I wanted to convince myself that hatred must be overcome and the value of human life must be appreciated - regardless of whether it is one's own or the so-called enemies!
