Vanishing Gradient is the solo project of Jose L. Santacruz, a Spanish singer-songwriter and music informatics research scientist currently based in The Netherlands. Blending complex rhythms with emotional depth, Vanishing Gradient explores the boundaries of crossover prog and math rock.

Jose began his musical journey with Kinesic, a progressive rock band from Málaga, Spain, whose debut album For the Nth Time featured on ProgArchives in 2017. After relocating to The Netherlands, he co-founded the alternative rock/metal band Jini, releasing their debut album Animate in 2023.

While continuing to write and perform with Jini, Jose launched Vanishing Gradient as a deeply personal creative outlet. Entirely self-written and produced, the project debuts with Async (2025), showcasing his signature fusion of technical precision and expressive songwriting.
