You know i've read Mike Rutsey's columns for years in the Sports pages never knowing he was John's brother. They didn't show the photo in the on-line version but in the paper yesterday they had a picture of Geddy at the Jays opening day game in 2002 in Toronto where i believe he's a seasons ticket holder. |

I have the Sotos album. I seem to remember enjoying it, but have not listened to it in quite a while.

Thanks for the comments Sagi. Now i'm afraid to play Polyphony 'cause i'm going to focus on the drums. ![]() Nice to see the votes spread out. Heck no one has commented on The United States Of America(no not the counrty) but they are getting some attention. You'd almost have to read my review to appreciate the history of it and those involved. names like John Cage, Yoko Ono, Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Don Ellis etc. A cool story and album that is very 60's sounding yet it's not all flowers and peace as we get the experimental and avant-garde side too.

I'm not a fan of Halloween although most consider it their best. Love the first two though. Actually the first two are more Psychedelic while Halloween is more Symphonic i believe.

PLJ all the way!! I really like that album, quite an obscure jam that would appeal to a lot of people around here. I really haven't heard it in a long time, I'm gonna play it tomorrow....I hope.
Also I'm surprised to see Polyphony doing so well. I personally am not too impressed by the album, it has some really good psyched stuff but some mediocare and amateurish stuff too. I think their drummer didn't fit the music so well which kinda made the overall playing a little sloppy. I think a harder edged drummer would make a huge difference, but don't get me wrong I do like it and play it some times. Sotos and Shub are definitely ![]() |

I only have one Pulsar album, and that's "Halloween", and it's been so long since I played it, I barely remember what it sounds like. Think I'll pull it out to listen to today. Working from home today so it's nice and easy.

Thankfully this one was re-issued a couple of years ago because it was as rare as hen's teeth before that.

Oh and Steve that's a cool story about the YETI debut which i've never heard. Hard to believe these guys are from Texas and probably own guns. ![]() |

That PLJ Band is from Greece and from the cover art to the music it's one unique adventure. I'm not sure what the right word is to decribe the mood here but the government of greece wasn't impressed as the banned this record and had all copies destroyed. The cd versions were taken right from an LP as the result. They use a lot of apocalyptic language from the Bible. The song "I See People" is almost hair raising as it we can hear crowd noise as the prophet preaches on the street. Wild and ominous stuff. Almost a serious version of Aphrodites Child's 666.

Another one that i gave 4.5 stars to. Dark with cello and violin, this is an amazing ride and i do prefer it to ZAAR that rose out of the ashes of this French band. |

Interesting story about the cool looking album cover for that one. There was this lady who worked at Sun Records who was responsible for the art work. She would listen to the master tape of the band and meditate while the music was playing waiting for a vision of what the cover art should be to appear in her mind. |

The French Floydians....also because Shub-Niggurath can win even without my vote.

You and Man With Hat made an excellent choice. I gave this 4.5 stars and i remember how impressed i was when i got this. No it's not their masterpiece but man it's close. This is my fav of the top four on the list. |

I'm going with the PLJ band. Pretty wild stuff. Dark, echoed acoustic/electric psych. The songs are strange too. Not outwardly strange, but we've-never-made-an-album-and-we're-not-sure-how-to-do-it-but-let's-just-see-what-happens strange.
Haven't been able to get my hands on that Yeti album, though I'm a huge fan of their first one, and was just revisiting it recently. It sounds even better now than it did when I first heard it. I might have been one of the first people to publish a review of their work, as I was blown away by a demo (consisting of 2 songs that later ended up re-recorded for their debut album) I was asked to review, and I think it even made my top 10 that year.
