Hi,
What a shame ... Roger Ruskin Spears version of this song is much better, and even has Keith "kicking the drums", given that the story goes that Keith learned to do that from Legs Larry Smith, the BDB drummer!
There are way too many things I like about this band ... and I have a hard time choosing one, but the stuff from WHO ARE YOU, usually stands out the most for me, although (obviously) there is stuff from before that stands out gloriously!

Can never really take the parts from the whole of any post-Tommy/pre-Kenny Jones Who albums, but some of those pre-Tommy album tracks are a gas, especially:Much Too Much See My Way Armenia City in the Sky Our Love Was Rael I Can't Reach You
Still, nothing beats the Quick One from the Stones' Rock n Roll Circus - primo early Who.

That reminds me that I still have to replace my own (never had the CD). I still don't know which version to get, because The Who's recorded legacy has been sonically tampered with so many times, that hear there are some real sonic atrocities out there for everyone of their albums.
Which version would be sonically best and still have a great ptresentraion (other than that horrible fatboy double jewel case I still see in shops) ?

Man, I wish Townshend would revisit those Face Dances and It's Hard tracks......they were never meant for Daltrey's razor-edged voice - no subtlety and nuance. Some of those songs need Pete's cracking croon to bring them alive. I've Know No War being one......sigh.

Some personal favourites rather than greatest, although the two do overlap at times, quite incredibly as it may seem.
Doctor Jimmy, The Rock, Love, Reign O'er Me: these three go together for me and is The Who at its best for me, but to separate... On Quadrophenia and Tommy, separating those tracks down not works very well often enough.
The Rock Song Is Over Baba O'Riley Love, Reign O'er Me Doctor Jimmy See Me, Feel Me/ Listening to You (combined overture parts...) I've Known No War (the first album on cassete I bought was The Who's It's Hard and this song always spoke to me the most) Amazing Journey I've Had Enough Boris the Spider One Life's Enough
------------- Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I observed before. It can be much like that with music for me; immersed in experiencing the moment.
