I chose 25 well-known classic bands included in PA as Prog, and then used Rate Your Music's top ranked song for each band.

Please list and vote for up to five of these tracks (only one vote per song).

I must have different tastes to RYM, but still a great list. I would vote for 9, so had to whittle it down a bit.

Yes - Roundabout
Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
KC - Starless
Rush - Spirit of Radio

I almost went with ELP Tarkus but instead went with Supertramp The Logical Song

The list features some of my all time favorites, how could I choose one?

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

-desert island picks (and voted for)
King Crimson - Starless
Gong - Master Builder
Magma - De Futura
Camel - Lady Fantasy
Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
-more desert island candidates really
Amon Düül II - Soap Shop Rock
Yes - Roundabout
Premiata Forneria Marconi - Appena un pò
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Banco del Mutuo Soccorso - L'evoluzione
-love these bands (and songs) as much-or more than the ones above, but I have another handful of "top songs" for sure
Can - Halleluwah
Van der Graaf Generator - Killer
Genesis - Supper's Ready
Area - Arbeit Macht Frei
Pink Floyd - Shine on You Crazy Diamond (1-5)
-more great bands and songs, but these are even further from my personal choice of top songs
Le Orme - Sospesi Nell'incredibile
Gentle Giant - Proclamation
The Mothers of Invention - Inca Roads
Renaissance - Song of Scheherazade
Focus - Hocus Pocus (not into Focus at all, but enjoy this for what it is)
-I do not care for any of the remaining five*
Harmonium - Histoires Sans Paroles
Supertramp - The Logical Song
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Tarkus
Rush - The Spirit of Radio
Kansas - Dust in the Wind

*I enjoy a selected few songs by Rush & Supertramp, but not the ones in the poll. Try Again and Xanadu would have done much better.

Thanks. I often would have different top picks too (from your list, Pheadra and Starless would be my top ranked, and Fragile is my favourite Yes album), but the ranking also comes down to the algorithm being used to calculate the rankings based on the collective ratings. The one with the highest rating may not be the highest ranked. If I'd gone for the list right on the artist page at RYM, then say with Yes, the top ranked would be Close to the Edge. With Rush it would Tom Sawyer... I think I should have gone with those lists from RYM. Oh well. It's just calculated a little differently. Change the algorithm (how things are weighted) and you change the results despite the data being the same. That's a funny thing with charts often, it's not just how much a combined set of people like things, it's how the data is calculated.

While I asked for up to five, I knew that would be a challenge too.

As was to be expected, there are far more than 5 tracks worth to be voted for. I try to avoid voting for my "usual suspect" bands this time - even this is difficult because there are so many of them here, but no, no Can, Amon Düül II, Tangerine Dream, King Crimson, VDGG, Camel votes this time.

I love some straight songs, the magic of a melody that speaks to me, and I've always loved Dust in the Wind and Logical Song, so that'll be two votes. I like much Magma but vote rarely for them as they tend to appear in polls where there is something I like even more, but De Futura will get a vote here. Fourth vote goes to Arbeit Macht Frei, and the fifth one to Scheherazade - not exactly dark horses admittedly but what can I do?

My five:
Genesis - Supper's Ready
King Crimson - Starless
Pink Floyd - Shine on You Crazy Diamond (1-5) [this is better if it's all 10 parts]
Renaissance - Song of Scheherazade
Banco del Mutuo Soccorso - L'evoluzione

There is ongoing proof that flour exists.
