This will probably be the weakest poll of the lot. We're covering 1966, 1976 and 1986. I'm already looking forward to part II of this. Much more interesting.
1966 is hard with prog related and jazz dominating. I went mellow for 1976, while 1986 is the most adventerous. My top four are in 1986 and I voted for Miriodor's debut which is quite different from the rest of their albums. Love the UZ and Shub albums too, and I'm a big Maiden fan.

Lots I like here too. I think my top three would be Stratosfear, Les Morts von Vite and Heatwave. Tough to choose between the TD and Shub-Niggurath, but I went with Shub. EDIT: And I really like Colour of Spring, I was not paying close enough attention. Revolver is another particular fave of mine. I also like that Miriodor and the Zappa and the Celeste. I had a friend who was huge on Iron Maiden in the 80s, but I never got into them.

And Prog or not, these are what I have listed as my top three per those years.

1966: Simon and Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence, The Byrds' Fifth Dimension, Ennio Morricone - Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo
1976: Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Osorezan / Dou no Kenbai, Cos - Viva Boma, Picchio dal Pozzo - Picchio dal Pozzo
1986: The Camberwell Now - The Ghost Trade, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Your Funeral...My Trial, Siouxsie and The Banshees - Tinderbox

Looking forward to later polls, 1996 and 2016 are two of my favourite years.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Eloy and Maiden both deserve a vote but I can't vote for both so went for Eloy. This started their best run of albums up to and including 1982's Time To Turn.

I think I might have missed the earlier polls, but plenty of albums here I love enough to make this a difficult choice. I landed on All Seing Eye. Less popular and more difficult/abstract than Juju & Speak No Evil. But it might be my favorite of his. The sheer sound of it is just incredible. And that line up in 1965 (when it was recorded) couldn't do no wrong. A top ten would look something like this:

Wayne Shorter-The All Seeing Eye
Talk Talk-The Colour Of Spring
Tangerine Dream-Stratosfear
The Beatles-Revolver
Shub Niggurath-Les Morts Vont Vite
Frank Zappa-Freak Out
Celeste-Principe Di Un Giorno
Novalis-Sommerabend
Univers Zero-Heatwave
The Who-A Quick One

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

This poll is not weak at all. Revolver and Stratosfear are currently leading, so I don't start thinking about voting for them, but otherwise I would. Heatwave and Sommerabend are both without a vote and I'd love throwing them one, but The Colour of Spring is one of these albums against which to vote will be seriously painful, so I won't not vote for it.

Thanks Greg. And for the companion poll. I'm really surprised to see Stratosfear doing this well. Pleasantly surprised.
