I've made it a habit to open a thread on Glastonbury; I tend to watch quite a bit of it on BBC IPlayer using NordVPN - unfortunately chances are you'll have to pay for something like this outside the UK to watch it, but they have put a good number of single tracks from the sets on youtube.
Unfortunately I have less time for it this year, and we know that there are just a few diamonds in a sea of mediocrity, although the general mood and atmosphere and good quality of the sound and filming makes some of the mediocrity pretty enjoyable.
Anyway, I'm not sure I get myself to do more this year than celebrating the confidence with which Black Country, New Road went against the stream (I haven't seen Geordie Greep's set coming up on BBC yet, he may swim together with BCNR) and proudly presented a set that would've made a 1973 crowd of Genesis fans happy, with probably more chords in every single track than most bands in their whole set, spiced by a very healthy feminine impact.
In any case, contributions welcome!

OK one more. I hadn't heard that much Gary Numan in my life before, but I think he did very well on his very first Glastonbury experience after all the years he is around. I didn't know how heavy much of his music is, and didn't expect him to be that good to be honest.
PS: Just watching Beth Gibbons' set, certainly among the best if not the best.

Wonderful! I'm a Numan fan (mostly the classic albums). I very much loved that Black Country, New Road performance. My oldest child who is 21 became a fan of that band. Of course I love Beth Gibbons, and "Floating on a Moment" for which I share a video, has been one of my very favourite songs.
------------- Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Watched Rod Stewart live an enjoyed it much to my suprise. His band were about a well oiled machine as you get and the lovely ladies in the red dresses were an added bonus.
I need to check out that BCNR set as I like the new album.
Also will try and check out Alanis Morrissete, Gary Numan, Franz Ferdinand, Beth Gibbons, The Fratellis, Geordie Greep, Ralph McTell, Hugh Cornwell, Hannah Moule and The Moulettes depending on availablity.

Unfortunately Geordie Greep's set wasn't even filmed by the BBC (too early apparently) - I'm gutted.
What I downloaded from iPlayer to keep: Gary Numan Scissor Sisters Black Country, New Road Goat Wet Leg

Hi,
So were others, however, it seems that there were issues with the whole ting, and Neil Young was one such performer that was not happy with it ... and I bet it was with the BBC wanting to keep control of the music, and some folks going ... up yours, johnny!
The sad thing, is that there are some really bad/nasty comments about some performers ... and I like to question why they were there in the first place! Politics and the like have always been on the forefront of a lot of these, but the BBC (I bet!!!) was probably the one that didn't want the politics on the shows by any band. That's like saying that most performers have to be mannequins and only do what they are told ... I think the BBC needs a shower and a shave! And a new job!
------------- Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told! www.pedrosena.com

Yeah, some stuff that I'd have liked to see is not available, Neil Young, Geordie Greep, shame!
Finally I have found a really really good set by an artist I hadn't been aware of before, Anohni and the Johnsons. Not for those who come to Glastonbury to have a happy party in the sun though. The music is in perfect symbiosis with the sad and hopeless message about how we destroy our planet. Very sophisticated songs and arrangements at that. Highly recommended.
(This one is one of their happiest.)

I enjoyed Franz Ferdinand's set a lot. Good ole fashioned rock n roll band and a very attractive as well as accomplished female drummer to boot. Alanis was a bit MEH lacking that fiery edge she used to have but credit to her for still being utterly gorgeous in her 50's. Gary Numan is 'prog' all day long but I think the archivers are in denial on that one! Good fun that he had his 2 daughters on stage with him and both continuing the family legacy it seems. I also watched Wolf Alice by recommendation of my nephew but got bored after about 30 minutes. Great version of Fleetwood Mac's Dreams though. Nailed that.
Any chance someone could put a link up for Black Country, New Road? I could only find one track Happiness, but no full set.

The Macabees were pretty good, I thought, with Florence Welch as an inspired guest artist. I really wanted to see Skerryvore but apparently the BBC didn't film anyone on the Acoustic stage,

Thanks. I actually found it later on my own so must hacve been an initial ''manlook'' I think it's a good set. they could almost be a modern version of 'Canterbury scene' although not as heavy. Fun to watch (but would have preferred it without the politics )

The controversy over Bob Vylan made me laugh when I saw the headliner for the Acoustic Stage on Sunday night - the venerable Roy Harper! Surely the most 'controversial' act on the bill. Hats off to Harper!
