Formed in 2016, Grand Veymont are the French progressive electronic duo of Béatrice Morel-Journel (who performs solo as Epépé and Baby B) and Josselin Varengo (who runs the SMSS Productions label). The duo's name pays tribute to the tallest point of the Vercors mountain range, near where Morel-Journel and Varengo grew up in an adjacent valley. Though they were vaguely aware of each other in childhood, the two got to know each other as adults while playing in bands like psychedelic pop ensembles Tara King Th. and Gloria before striking out on their own to make more experimental music. The two describe their sound as "krautrock de salon", a warm and cozy complement to reading and napping which Grand Veymont enjoy performing live at both proper venues and living-room house shows. Both members handle vocals while Morel-Journel plays flute, synthesizer and omnichord, with Varnego juggling keyboards, drums and trumpet.

With songs built and refined from hours of improvisation, Grand Veymont's motorik heart pulses with both programmed percussion and the implied rhythm of sequencer-and-synthesizer: echoes of Cluster, Harmonia and Kraftwerk abound, and the presence of Morel-Journel and Varengo's shared influences Stereolab, Pram, Aquaserge and Broadcast undergird the project. Via French label Objet Disque (and their British counterpart Outré), Grand Veymont have so far released three full-length albums: 2016's self-titled (later remixed and reissued in 2019), 2018's Route Du Vertige and 2020's Persistance & Changement, which featured a single 39-minute song.
