Well, what do you think? Don't frown or cringe, I meant "rivalry" with a positive conotation. Ritchie left Purple and made Rainbow, Purple regrouped with (the amazing IMHO) Tommy Bolin. Two great albums appeared. Which one do you enjoy more?

1975 Rainbow album is one of the best I've ever heard but still I prefer Purple's Come Taste the Band.Big smileI  don't even know why. I just do.Ouch

Ritchie Blackmore´s Rainbow! Great guitar solos and overall better compositions.

I love both (as if everybody here didn't know...), but I voted for "Come Taste the Band", a painfully overlooked and underrated album which contains some forgotten gems - notably the marvellous double whammy of "This Time Around" and "Owed to G".

Rainbow! Deep Purple went a little too funky for me,but it's not a bad album!

When I'm involved, never be surprised....Wink I love both those albums to bits, but I have a particular weakness for "Come Taste the Band" - especially because of those two songs I mentioned in my earlier post (and I'm a huge Glenn Hughes fan too...)

like both albums but always really had a soft spot for the less popular (?) "come taste the band", there are some excellent grooves here and the aforementioned "this time around", glenn hughes really shines here!
