I agree with p0mt3, TOOL always have the best videos. Very original music films and all artwork done by Guitarist Adam Jones.

Oh . . . well in THAT case . . . Tool's "Parabola''. It's the best music video I have ever seen.

It is what my avatar came from, so can get a pretty good idea on how much I love it, haha.

I have to say.. the King Crimson video to "Sleepless" is a bit cringy.. I suppose it was 1984 so hey ho.

Go on YouTube.. do a search for Gentle Giant.. "Isnt It Quiet and Cold" (or whatever that track on their first album).  Classic anim a fan has done.. Trust me, its worth a look.

Floyd's Welcome to the Machine is quite good in a sort of way (really crazy)...
Money from Floyd is really good too.
Land of Confusion by Genesis even though it's the pop side, the video is really mad and scary in some way.

I can admit to liking The Mars Volta's "Televators" video, that was cute =)

mostly when images are paired with words and/or music you're getting manipulated in some way ;P

Definately Peter Gabriel, especially Sledgehammer.  If you consider The Wall to be a music video than it's definately a good one too.

Muse's video for "Knights of Cydonia" is the single best music video I have ever seen. It takes everything I love (sci-fi, cowboys, knights) and puts them into an epic story set in the Old West in the future. Don't think too hard about it. But it's definitely my favorite video ever.

for everyone arguing about worst videos, how about "Queen of the Reich" by Queensryche or basically any Dream Theater video, and who could forget some of Rush's 80's videos like "Distant Early Warning" or "Time Stand Still"? If you want to go outside of prog then there's always "Seperate Ways" by Journey.

As for best I haven't really seen many videos from prog bands, although since Primus is on this site I'll mention them because I think they do great videos.

I've always loved Rush's videos for the complete cheese that they are (although the video for Far Cry was actually pretty decent)! I'll agree that Tool has some pretty sweet videos, especially when it comes to Art Videos. Porcupine Tree has had a couple good Art Videos recently too.

For more cheese look up anything by Blue Oyster Cult (not prog, but still)

And a friend showed me this today... excellent video for those who like it weird! (Warning! Not Prog!)

I'd have to say that Mr. Gabriel is pretty fantastic when it comes to delivering the goods for videos. Cheesy as the "Steam" video is, it's still pretty damn entertaining.

Of course, the best collection of music videos ever was Tull's Slipstream...
