Ivan, have you seen The Truman Show? Admittedly, some of Carey's comedy performances get quite repetitive, but he's fantastic in a more serious dramatic role in this film. It's actually one of my all time favorite movies, in large part thanks to his acting.

The Truman Show and Man on the Moon are two excelent movies in which Carey does a good job despite his overacting, BUT his performances in:
- The Mask
- Ace Ventura repusive and third class comedy
- Dumb and Dumber; THe name says it all
- The terrible version of the Joker he played in Batman
- Etc. etc. etc.
Are crap, sadly his crap exceeds largely his good roles.

Bruce is way underrated IMO- Ok he is quite typecast but I've seen enough in Pulp Fiction and Sixth Sense to believe the guy can act.
Jack Nicholson overrated?

I never said he was bad, I actually like most of his work.I just said he was overrated, which is true.(To me at least)
And I agree with you on Julia Roberts.

Nicholas Cage became overrated...John Travolta is a walking joke that somehow is still in demand...I can take or leave Willis but he was great in Pulp Fiction (and, though it's by no means a widely shared opinion, in Hudson Hawk too ).
Johnny Depp keeps on surprising me...for every Pirates of the Caribbean and Sleepy Hollow, there's a Chocolat or Blow to redeem him. And even at his most preening, he has moments of real acting genius (well, maybe not 21 Jump Street and Nightmare on Elm Street).

Stephen Segal , but everyone knows he's as wooden as a redwood pine, so I wouldn't call him overrated.
Bruce Willis? Ever seen 12 Monkeys? The guy's a pro and no mistake!

Jack Nicholson for me, he seems to be able to play one character, and that's it. Likewise, Gene Hackman seems to me to be pretty inflexible.
On the female side, Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow seem over-rated in my book.

Most overrated: Cruise and Roberts. Given their body of work, they've each done only 3 or 4 that have any real merit. For Cruise, I would include (in chrono order) Legend (a seriously underrated fantasy film - Tim Curry is incredible!), Born on the 4th of July, The Firm, Interview with a Vampire and Vanilla Sky. For Roberts, I actually believe that, despite how she has been generally type-cast, she is a better dramatic actress than a romantic comedy actress; i.e., her best films (in chrono order) are probably Sleeping With the Enemy, The Pelican Brief and Conspiracy Theory. It's also kind of strange that, given their box office status, they have never been paired in a film...
Re Carrey, in addition to The Truman Show, his best film is The Majestic.
Re Willis, he has a lot more range than most would believe. Some of his best (my faves are bolded) are: Die Hard, The Last Boy Scout, Color of Night, Pulp Fiction, Twelve Monkeys, Fifth Element, The Jackal, The Siege, Sixth Sense, The Whole Nine Yards (one of the best "black comedies" ever made, with a fabulous ensemble cast), Hart's War (among Willis' truly finest performances), Sin City (if you have not seen this yet - do! It also has a tour-de-force performance by Mickey Rourke). As an aside, Willis seems to make alot of "number" movies: 12 Monkeys, 5th Element, 6th Sense, Whole 9 Yards - and that doesn't include Die Hard sequels!
Re Stallone, he has improved with age: the remake of Get Carter is one of his finest, most nuanced performances (I also feel that way about Assassins, though not everyone would agree).
Mickey Rourke has made a phenomenal comeback, with excellent performances in Get Carter, Man on Fire, and Sin City.
Peace.

The only Affleck performances I really like are Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy, and Dogma. (I am a HUGE Kevin Smith fan, so I like all of his performances in those flicks).
But really he is overrated.

Bruce Willis is the same character in nearly every one of his movies... same with Jack. Including "OFOTCN"... except he had a great ensemble case that helped him out... The indian was the best character in that movie...

Nicholson overrated? Maybe...I guess I could understand that he's played a variant of McMurphy for many of his subsequent roles, so much so that you could almost call him a character actor to some degree. Hpwever, I can point to his brilliant performance in "The Pledge", as well as "Easy Rider", which were both really quite unlike any of his other roles.
But if you're going to say that Jack is an overrated character actor, you might as well say the same thing about DeNiro and Pacino, who have both played the same character for 90% of their career. I happen to like character actors (Harry Dean Stanton, Rip Torn, and Christopher Walken especially) so it's not a real knock as far as I'm concerned.

Hugh Grant really gets on my nerves. For the benefit of any American who have never been to the UK, you would have to hang out with some pretty aristocratic types to meet someone as stupid, hateful and totally chinless as the characters Grant plays in his sh*t films. It seems to be a mindless cliche sold to Americans. Is that how you guys really think we are in the England?? I hope not. It's like us Brits seeing ALL Americans as cowboys!
Anyway, my crap list..
Hugh Grant Hugh Grant Hugh Grant Hugh Grant Hugh Grant Hugh Grant Keanu Reeves
There are others, but I've got it in for Granty today..

I'd say his most comedic performance was The Shining. (maybe that's just me, that movie was HILARIOUS. Jack Nicholson going insane is PRICELESS)
