BBC is making a poll of who had the best performance at Live 8 and currently, Velvet Revolver is winning before Pink Floyd.

I like heavy rock very much,but on the night i thought Velvet Revolver were,at best,average! The Who and The Foyd were head and shoulders the best on the night,followed by Sting and Sir Macca... |

When I voted Pink Floyd was at 28% and Velvet Revolver was at 33%. Now PF is at 30% and VR is at 32%. Keep voting!

Actually I listen to way more hardrock and heavy metal than prog. However, Pink Floyd, in my opinion, is much better than Velvet Revolver and reuniting for one final gig together, after 24 years, putting all their differences aside for the Live 8 cause and playing such an awesome show deserves some recognition, in my opinion. |

Yeah, that'll obviously come as a shock to some people. Mostly I'd just shrug my shoulders at the kind of sad person who care about things like this, but in this instance - where the point was to raise awareness about something rather important - it comes off as incredibly petty to worry about the fact that your pet band is losing a vote on some damned web site.

Bam! I hereby nominate King of Loss for the coveted title of Comeback Master.
What a withering response, completely invalidating the grounds for my complaint.
Now I see the light. Screw debt restructuring and poverty relief - as long as The Floyd rates tops in some web site poll, all is well with the world.
My ignorance is rectified, my pig status revoked and I now swim in heavenly bliss with all Pink Floyd fans who managed to beat out Crappy Supergroup.
Floyd, Floyd, Floyd! Justice has been restored, and now we can finally rest.

The Who gave a bloody fantastic performance - I wanted them to stay on
for another hour! Meanwhile, I was rather relieved that PF's set was
over when it was. It was just SO downbeat. |

I voted for Floyd twice... because they really deserved it. If that was downbeat Trousers.. then I prefer downbeat from now on. I thought that was the most brilliant thing I've seen in a long time. Watching David's facial expressions while he played.. and his do doing to WYWH... still got his high voice... Roger doing his verses on Comfortably Numb... that final guitar solo... I still get chill bumps just thinking about it... it was a frigging miracle! The Pig is Back - Long live Pink Floyd! ------------- THIS IS ELP

Pink did an amazing show and they sounded fabulous. I didnt get to see it live, but I listened live via XM radio while I was on a cruise boat out on the Chesapeake bay. PF went on at just about sunset in East coast US time, so their soaring melodies set the perfect mood for a beautiful evening. Justice is done! PF ahead by a mile. Velvet Revolver were very poor - and I expected them to be good. The drummer was good and Slash was competent (no better) but the vocalist looks (and sounds) like a reject from Village People. What was depressing was how bad most of the new bands were. Razorlight were particularly abysmal and Coldplay are terribly overrated. |
