I just came across the Music Video for Kevin Ayers Caribbean Moon. Lord God almighty.
Any other music videos from Prog bands that made your appreciation for said artist go down?

It didn't reduce my opinion of Rush any, but lordy, the video for "Time Stand Still" was awful. (worse cos it's one of my favorite songs of theirs)

Oh lordy, that's awful. Bad video for a bad song. I don't even want to think along these lines at all. Time to say goodnight. And yeah, Time Stand Still is unwatchable.

I think that's just British humor.
Me? There's not a video for which I would like the band or its music any less. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGT0aZBK_Yk#t=2m23s" rel="nofollow - The one for Yes - "Everydays" looks really abominable, though. That's not the Yes I want people to know.

How about Pendragon's `Saved By You'?! Very cheesy video, but the song always makes me smile, and I actually really like their `Kowtow' album the song is from - a cool mix of new-wave, pop and prog, rather good!

I have found it very funny, both the song and the video. I remember ti have laughed a lot the first time I watched it on TV. It was about 1977. It's a joke and has to be taken as a joke in the vein of Gong instead of Soft Machine.

Iguana! I LOVE IT lol!!
Man, that singer is wired in the `improvised movement' sections!!
But that song is full of some great proggy bits all through the song, kind of cool lol!
They kind of sounded like a more bent version of Saga or something!

i'd say it is their best! (video, not song itself)
but, Land Of Confusion is better

This is the video Iguana posted a link for above, I thought I'd format it so everyone can just click and watch:
Who is this band?!?! Does anyone know anything more about them or any of the players? The band themselves are really quite good (love the Yes/Rush-styled chunky bass!), but man that singer is on some serious crack!
Any info would be great!
Thanks again to Iguana for the initial link!

This one's kind of hard to watch. But again, video production values were different in the 1970s.

I'm wondering if you think that the lyrics to that song are something of a love song, or "YOUR" idea of what a Caribbean Moon is?
There is a massive difference, and folks like Kevin, came out of the "beat" generation with a lot of literary folks, and the basic idea of going to the Carebbean is for a nice vacation and sunshine ... not a black hole and ...
Kevin's humor is very English ... I'm not sure that everyone will get this, or appreciate the humor behind it.

I really like this Yes song from "The Big Generator" (An album I also love), but when it to the video... I frankly was embarrased for them. So I never watched the video again... that is until a minute ago...again I was very frientened and I reguritated! Reminds me of ELP's Love Beach album cover. The video was just a product of the 80's.

Low quality video of an average JT track. I like both the track and the video though. Typical IA humor displayed. Not sure the video was made in the '70's though. 1980 would be my guess, as the band on the video is the same guys that recorded "A".

Owner of a Lonely Heart, Jon looked too stereotypically '80s.
Jesus He Knows Me by Genesis is pretty awful.
Same goes for A Trick of The Tail, Misunderstanding, and No Son of Mine.
Matte Kudasai was somewhat ok.
The Barbarian by ELP was godawful.

^ I thought the video for "Misunderstanding" was OK. It's fa-a-a-a-a-ar from being the worst prog video.
Posted By: Astral Traveller
Date Posted: January 22 2013 at 17:01
^ Misunderstanding to me is where Genesis made the transition from Prog Band to Pop Band. Its Phil's "collapsing love song". The video was very similar to what you would see on MTV today if it still ran videos constantly. A guy trying to win his girlfriend back, isn't that really what every current #1 pop song is about on a very basic level.

Have to say being an ardent Genesis person from their early beginnings until after Duke (of which only parts I like) That any song such as 'Misunderstanding', 'We can't dance', 'Illegal Aliens' etc etc are truly not Progressive tracks at all. But more like Phil Collins ballads and mixed up pop music.

No, they ain't. It seems that entertainment has always been Tull's forte, ... let alone adult entertainment. I quite liked the song. As per video, it's not as poorly conceived as that for "Heartbeat", ... though I do wish Ian had lost the tasteless aspect of his humor.

"Illegal Alien" by Genesis I thought was pretty bad. Rush's "Time Stand Still" was definitely not well made, but at least it's kind of funny (sort of) as opposed to the other one.
