4 stars "The Advent of Panurge" was the first Gentle Giant song I knew. Believe it or not: I heard it on the radio in the 80s! Though I liked the song I didn't know that I was about to discover my very favorite band for many years. So "Octopus" will always remain a special album for me. Unfortunately, it contains the boring "Think of me with kindness", so I can't give five stars. Generally said, "Octopus" is one of the more experimental releases of the band. No song is like another and some of them can hardly compared to anything else you know from progrock music. "The Advent of Panurge" soon was not my favorite anymore (maybe I simply listened to it to often). Nowadays I love the excellent and extravagant vocals on "Knots" as well as the instrumental "The Boys in the Band", both part of the Octopus medley that you might know from live recordings. But there are even soon less known tunes that are remarkable like "Dog's Life", "A Cry For Everyone" and last not least "River" - listen to the keybords in the verse...
