2 stars A very low rated Pendragon album here - is that low rating justified? The first release from these guys was impressive and I personally rated it with four stars.

"Saved By You" - A pop flavoured number very much more commercial than anything from the previous album. Reminds me to an extent of Kayak but without that something special that Kayak has. I don't like commercialised music as a rule however this is pleasant enough.

"The Mask" - Again commercialised, bouncy. Not terrible but not great.

"Time for a Change" - when the track first starts I'm taken into the world of Disco music and I can imagine bodies bouncing around a dance floor. Robotic drum time keeping.

"I walk the Rope" - Ultraviolet light on the dance-floor number. I do enjoy the sax in this track although it is only a short refrain. I don't hate this if I'm in the mood for something lighter and airy. All I can really say here is - "more sax please".

"2 AM" - And I get it - the Sax that is. If mellowing out is what I need there's little that does that as well as the saxophone does. Good on yer, Julian. So far - the best track on the album thus far.

"Total Recall" - Dramatic keyboard followed by gentle piano and lead guitar to start. I like this longer track however "like" is the word. It isn't anything special but it is pleasant.

"The Haunting" - Longest track of the album - Pendragon have the opportunity to turn this album into something here - they don't. The lead guitar work does hold my interest but there's not much more to write home about this. It simply goes on too long.

"Solid Heart" - I don't like this track much - a return to commercialised turf. Supposed to be a kind of rousing sing along I guess.

"Kowtow" - Happy, bouncy, catchy track.

This album was a shock after the very good début album. It isn't terrible but it isn't very much more than mediocre with a splash of prog here and there. Pendragon was caught in the late 80's trap musically and they attempt to chase the commercial pop music loving flock around. I was very much underwhelmed by this release and that's putting it mildly. If I was in the mood for disco, dance or pop music then there were acts that had that down to a T and that's where I would have headed. I don't like pop music as a rule. The general consensus here then relating to this album is correct - it is worth 2 stars in that it isn't hopelessly lost however it isn't anything worth any form of musical applaud either.
