4 stars Maybe this is not the essential record in TD's production, but Exit has got very good moment (as well as some boring 1980s synth pop relics). "Pilots of purple twilight" and "Choronzon" are the ideal candidates for the most useless stuff by Tangerine Dream. Their synths sound so outdated and lack in the charm they had in the previous decade; the melodic patterns repeat themselves again and again as if the band had run out of ideas and had to fill time somehow, and these songs would sound better for the titles of some broadcast news."Network 23" is a sort of light-spirited Kraftwerk drill, yet it is quite enjoyable - good wallpaper music. The other titles are indeed very good stuff by the band. "Kiew mission" is a film without pictures, with its haunting entrance (the Russian spoken part is just perfect) and its cadenced, atmospheric development. The title track is mesmerizing and almost menacing; here we find again the use of repeated melodic patterns on a sequenced rhythm, but the overall effect is quite personal and convincing. The same can be said for "Remote Viewing", maybe the track sounding closer to the band's production of the second half of the 1970s. So, overall: not essential, but good!
