2 stars the story of this album goes way back from the year of its release... it was first recorded in cassette and so as you can unserstand, this stuff is really "primitive"... it was the time when mr Wilson was into psychedelic music more that nowadays, much like he was in his first PT works...

the problem with this release is that even though it contains some excellent ideas like acoustic passages, psychedelic parts, Bowness' moving vocals, beautiful string arrangements from guest musicians that, on later No-Man releases would become essential for building the mood, all songs seem like unfinished ideas.. just when a nice start prepossesses you that you are about to listen to sth great, the song ends! maybe, probably out of lack of experience or even on purpose, this album is filled with small bits of ethereal music that only work as appetizers to a course that never arrives...

so , all of you admirers of mr Wilson's work, without saying that this is a bad release, it can only work as a completion purchase for your collection.. oh, and the cover of Nick Drake's 'Pink Moon' is nicely different and excellent and indicative of Wilson's greatest influence on song writting...
