2 stars I am not going to make a song by song review this time, just a few lines about what is on this disc, since ithere is not that much prog and also it´s a compilation.

The tracks are placed chronologically, starting in 1965 with Ursiny´s Beatles influenced group The Beatmen.Ursiny was justthe lead guitarist and singer, while other members also sang and wrote material. Some tracks are great (Let´s make a summer has one of the best melodies he has ever created, the rocking Mr. Jones), and some are considerably weaker (The enchanted lie, the cheesy Safely arrived, the sloppy cover of Beatles´ She loves you in Slovak as Mám ju rád). The EP by The Soulmen (influenced most notably by Cream) from 1968 follows, with a harder, blues influenced sound. The tracks are all fine, most of them with great solosfrom Ursiny (Wake up, I wish I were, Baby do not cry). Then the two tracks by New Soulmen follow. These tracks show Ursiny as one of the progressive rock pioneers at least in Middle Europe.(the jazzy I have found). The other tracks are in Slovak, the first two comming from a single and have a more commercial and straightforward approach than most of the music Ursiny was writing and recording then. Especially noteworthy is the first track, which features some great guitaplaying from Ursiny in his uniquel way (Hra je hra), while the other one has a weak melody (Stá pieseň o daždi). The last fournumbers (Pieseň o čase, Sťahovanie, O tebe, pre teba, s tebou, Náhle) where unreleased before and they are on par with his tracks on the album Momentky, which was released when Ursiny cut these tracks.

Judging on the performances and songwriting, this compilation would get 3 stars or maybe even a weaker 4 stars, but given the fact that this is mostly not prog and that the songs are rarities, I would advice it to Collectorsú/ fans only and so

Overal rating: 2 STARS
