3 stars Consisting of the most well known JT songs, this compilation is a good addition to any casual prog (or music in general) listener's record collection. While it is a shame they couldn't include such classic songs as 'Too Old To Rock'N'Roll: Too Young To Die', 'Heavy Horses' and 'Minstrel In The Gallery' in their entirety, the edited versions still do enough justice to the originals (though hardcore JT fans may disagree). For me this is quite an ideal compilation, especially since it includes a personal favorite of mine (not necessarily found on other Tull comps): the bluesy A New Day Yesterday.

Overall, The Very Best Of Jethro Tull can hold it's own in your record collection. It might be good accompaniment to a live album or two. Most of all, it could be a good place to start your JT collection and fandom.
