3 stars Ok this record and this band has a historical importance. One of the few prog rock bands in Brazil that did record an album worth of original songs during their day and released it. It was not well promoted at the time and it´s easy to see why: the music here, a mix of Black Sabbath riffs plus some strong psychedelic keys in the vein of early Pink Floyd, is hardly what you can call commercial stuff, even for the day. Vocals are average at best with lyrics that dabbles mostly with nonsense plus a little "protest" stuff to spice it up (very little). To me the main problem is not the style but the songs themselves: unimaginative, boring and repetitive. Drugged material that may sounded great when you´re loaded, but ultimately it is just second rate experimentalism, even fi the band had two terrific players (Luiz Paulo Simas on keyboards and Candinho on drums, both would latter join Vímana, one of Brazil´s finest prog bands of the 70´s). Brazil had several better bands working at the time, some of which never got the chance to leave their tunes properly recorded for posterity.

However, if you like the aforementioned styles you should check it out anyway. This is surely not my cup of tea. My CD came with 8 bonus tracks of unknown origins, probably demos for a forthcoming LP that never was. They show they much likely were taking a very different step towards musical directions if they had stayed together. Those goes from funk rock to brazilian popular and even include some whimsical moments like The Cancer Stick.

Conclusion: worth a listen, but since they have such underground status as a cult group I was expecting a lot more. Rating: something between 2,5 and 3 stars.
