Deeper into alternative rock psyche of Motorpsycho we go... (I started out with their later, retro-rock albums). Despite the early Motorpsycho's reputation for noisy drone and love of Sonic Youth, Soundgarden and Dinosaur Jr., this approach is not dominant and standing in the way of melody. This is actually one of their more accessible albums - just alternative guitar rock, but played with finesse and attention to instruments of a classic rock combo. The mood is more bittersweet and introspective rather than depressive. Proper songs (not counting the barely audible noise of track 10) are divided between energetic rockers, low-key acoustics, a typically alternative rock slow- moving college radio anthem, and a 9-minute song combining the three approaches - melodic rock, brief dissonance an meandering atmospherics.
