4 stars Caricatures is the first LP recorded by Ange in 1972 and it's certainly one of their strongest effort.

As noticed by many reviewers the theatrical singing by Christian Décamps is very distinctive (with lyrics in french of course) and made this band unique. But his bandmates have also developped a very special sound. Especially, his brother, Francis Décamps, a truly co-leader, produced a very original work on keyboards : floating, mysterious and very poetic....

Instrumental sections are really well crafted and developped. The compositions are well balanced between dynamic and soft parts.

The sound is dated? Yes for sure. But, in fact I have the feeling than a great part of the "Caricatures" seduction comes from this vintage sound.

Recommanded to people interested in french prog even if they can't understand the lyrics.
