4 stars This is the only Hawkwind album I own, and other than their infamous ingle "Silver Machine", the only music form this band that I ahve heard to date. The album opens with a groovy psychedelic tune entitled "Psychedelic Warlords (Dissapear in Smoke)", which has an awesome guitar introduction, and from the moment the lyrics come in, you can tell that it is Hawkwind and nothing else. This song then segways into a very different kind of song, the light eclectic sounding "Winds of Change", which sounds a bit like Van Der Graaf Generator with fiddles. Other songs that really stand out on this album are the title track "Hall of The Mountain Grill", a beautiful piano and strings song which really shows that Hawkind are more than juts a gimmick, and the incredibly spacey "D- Rider", with it's chunky guitar riff and almost Pink Floyd-like affected vocals. There are no real weak tracks on this album, amking it a good alrounder and an excellent addition to any space rock collection. 4 stars.
