5 stars Mahavishnu Orchestra is the most intense band ever (except King Crimson), and this is their best (and most intense) album. The title track is a true scorching blast of virtuosity from McLaughlin and Co. Some of the firiest soloing ever can be heard on this song. Miles Beyond, however, is my favorite song on the album. The keyboard intro is one of the greatest introductions in music and then it just gets into this epic riff with guitar and violin that makes one of the truly heaviest moments in music ever. After that you get what is probably McLaughlin's catchiest (yeah) soloing ever. Some other highlights on the album are One Word, Thousand Island Park, Open Country Joy, and Resolution. Essential for any jazz fusion or progressive rock fan, and highly recomended for any rock fan.
