This is an independent Bowie without The Spders from Mars.Now,that sounds bad but really this is an enjoyable album.

This album opens with the creepy ''Future Legend'',which is a spoken word intro.

It fades into the rocking title track.''Diamond Dogs'' is not prog in anyway,shape,or form. Its a Stone influenced rock song.

And we then go to the highlight of the whole album with ''Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing(Reprise)''. Its a tale of the city.

After we go to ''Rebel Rebel'',which is David Bowie's see ya later to Glam.Not prog but obviously would influence Punk.

''We Are The Dead'' is a gothic song.Sang in a miserable tone.This song could be considered prog or gothic rock.

''Rock and Roll with Me'' is a good ballad but not a good progressive song. ''1984'' is a funk number which will take you into Young Americans.

''Big Brother'' is a very excellent song.The way Bowie's voice sounds on this track is very Robotic. Then it fades into ''Chant of the Ever Circling Family''.The last two are the most Progressive on the whole album.

It terms of a rock album its excellent. But a prog album? I'm going to have to give it three stars.
