A FAREWELL TO KINGS

This is my absolute favourite Rush album. Every time I listen to it I find myself singing along to every song and air guitar-ing (or bass-ing or drumming for that matter) through every intro and solo. Closer to the Heart was one of the first Rush songs that I'd ever heard. I liked it I thought it had interesting lyrics and sound and decided to follow up on that though. So I went bought, first Chronicles the best of to get a taste then once I decided which songs I'd enjoyed the most I went and got A Farewell to Kings and Permanent Waves. Of the two I loved this one the most.

I'd heard a few of the songs from Chronicles but they felt so much more proper on their album. Not to mention Xanadu and Cygnus X-1 Book I which are in my opinion Rush's best epics. The low point of the album if there is one is Madrigal. Not because it is a bad song, but because it's melancholy feel seems inappropriate for the album which is otherwise so packed with energy. The band is on fire with this album.
