3 stars I find this album very frustrating to listen too. And I have been listening with open ears and mind.

The music here is soaped up The Beatles with cello, violin and keyboards. But ELO is just plodding on and on with four uninspiring pop/rock songs. The instrumentations is very good and there are clear classical influences here. But they are not enough to save the bacon. The one song that saves the bacon is fifth song here, their excellent version of Roll Over Beethoven. That is an excellent track. Unfortunate; is the untypical track here. The rest is plodding. OK, I have to admit that I also like parts of From the Sun to the World when I am now listening to this album for the 11th time. This album is still not a great album by any means and I hope ELO has released better albums than this one.

3 stars (barely)
