3 stars Very acoustic, strings filled album, first original John Cale's work after almost decade of silence. Even if accessible and a bit polished, this album still sounds better then some Cale's openly commercial works.

I like Cale's minimalism and experimental works, but this album isn't from his works of that field. Slightly proto-punkish, generally post-punk, acoustic rock and melodic pop- rock album, with Cale's vocals ( he never was a great singer) and plenty of soul background female voices. All these are mixed in quite pleasant mixture, with some attractive moments. And often all this sounds as art-rock! But looking on this album in total, it isn't enough personal to make this kind of music attractive in whole.

I think this album can attract VU and John Cale fans ( Velvets drummer Maureen Tucker presented there on three trucks as well), but it is not good enough for wide public ( I don't think this album will attract new listeners to John Cale music).
