4 stars While I give this LP a three it is a VERY healthy three and a half really. This 3rd album from the Austrian Bo Hansson is his definite best. Very close to Hansson's work, but including synth-sequencers and slightly more modern equipment, Gandalf's To Another Horizon is a must for synth fans. the 10 minute- "Natural forces getting out of control" on Side One is th eLP highlight - building from a very CentralEuropean folk beginning of whistles and flutes into a pulsing sequencer-driven epic of considerable quality. While his next LP "Magic Theatre" was decidedly light in tone this LP is of darker moods. Gandalf's moog work in particular is impressive and if instrumental mmod music like Bo Hannson, Tangerine Dream and Heldon is your bag then give this Austrian maverick a try. His music is a mix of teh bands just mentioned and a beautifully European folk-prog sound, reminscent of Popol Vuh at their finest. Side Two other 10 minute track "To Another Horizon" is a good example of this more folk-induced sound, with sitars added a spice to the musical melange. A beautiful LP of European delight! Summons up vistas of the Lps and the mystic enlightenment of such classic Euro-LP's as Popol Vuh's Einsjager und Siebenjager and Sergius Golowin's crucial Lord Krishna von Goloka. In fact, during the writing of this review I've been skipping thru the LP and Side Two is absolutely ebtrancing Euro Prog Folk! I'm gonna up this too a four - the first time I've changed my mind during the writing of a Prog Archives review!!!! YES - forget the three and a half - ITS A FOUR!!!!
