2 stars Crazy jam for free-jaz fans only.

It's interesting how quick the blues-rock band tried to turn into a jazz band. Yes, "tried" is a good word.

This recording captures two most promising, and yet most avant-garde, groups of Czechoslovakia. Four tracks presents free-jazzrock jams. There is a lot of freedom and post-Coltarne type solos, but still some limits are clearly audible. Blue Effect and Jazz Q doesn't try to copy any of Western or USA jazzrock, rather focus on doing something fresh.

In some way, especially for fans of free-jazz and tough brass solos, it is interesting. But the music is far from perfect - and surely doesn't match 5/5. You won' here any synthesizer or any interesting background - just very, very few Hammond chords and some piano. Despite there're two bassists and drummers, you won't hear rich and 'fat' rhythm. There is also - surely - not enough playing of Radim Hladik.

For Blue Effect fans and free-jazz/rock maniacs only.
