My deep dive into Flairck's music has given me a lot of surprises and joys. One of the things I have learned is that this band delivers multi-dimensional music and albums. Unfortunate; De Emigrant is slightly more one-dimensional than their best albums. Most of the music on De Emigrant is waltz and old folk-hall dance music. The type of music that was in vogue in the 1920s. Only the six minutes long Andante Poco A Poco Presto Ma Non Troppo with it's superb pan flutes and guitars is among their better songs. The rest is good, but nothing more. Some of the songs also feels tired and too much of a routine work. The two single remixes of Sofia is something the world could had been spared for too.

This album is by no means a bad album. But it is not the first one I grab from my beloved Flairck collection. De Emigrant simply feels tired and more stale than the normal sparkling fizz Flairck normally serves up. But De Emigrant does not shame Flairck so pick it up if you find it.
