5 stars One thing I've noticed about Kayo Dot albums (or maybe it's all a huge coincidence...) is that each successive album expands upon a subtle sound/style used on the previous album. For example, Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue expanded on Choirs of the Eye's dissonance and droning, Blue Lambency Downward expanded on Dowsing's jazzier side, and Coyote expands on the frantic and noisier parts of BLD. Although it's never just a simple expansion with this band, this one stands out as it's yet another complete re-work of the band. Very gothic-sounding, haunting, and generally unnerving. Toby channels Scott Walker which greatly adds to the eeriness.
