3 stars I can simply say this - - this is a good proto prog experience, dynamic, reasonably balanced, heavy at times and full of energy to say the least. I like the balance and energy and have always enjoyed this "mediocre" deep purple (not mediocre in a broad perspective at all) - - - however, what best seals the fate of this album as 'average' with me is where it stands amongst the '8 Tracks' I would grab off the floor board of the VW Bus when I was in my younger days - - needless to say, it was bypassed quite regularly by the real gripping and exciting works of this and several other staples of the era. I would lean to 3.5 on this as I do feel a strong need to reward ground breaking and original sounding artists.............
