WANDERER ON THE EDGE OF TIME

Mekong delta is a progressive (thrash-) Metal-Band from Germany, founded in 1985, which has produced 9 studio albums within the last two and a half decades. This new album, named "Wanderer on the Edge of Time", combines elements of Extreme-, Tech- and Progressive-Metal, with fewer Thrash-parts than in their older Albums. There are some similiarities to bands like Symphony X, Meshuggah, Mastodon, Dream Theater and in the more extreme songs, Spastic Ink, Canvas Solaris or Blotted Science. This may sond like some pretty standard material, but it isn't. The songs are heavier than the ones on their previous albums, and follow a fine tuned order and composition throughout. The work on the single instruments is excellent, with some excellent rhythm work on drums and bass, and some really athmospherical guitar parts. In my opinion, this is some of the best Prog Metal I have heard during the last years, and this album deserves the five stars.
