2 stars My Dying Bride lost the plot in a major way on this album.

Following Paradise Lost's way to oblivion, My Dying Bride came up with an album full of goth rock and triphop, electronica and plain rock. Gone was the mournful doom metal My Dying Bride had made their trademark. Well, most of it, anyway.

The goth rock parts here is acceptable....... barely. The electronic bits feels alien, forced and not embedded in the goth rock. The result is a mess of ideas cut short, electronica bits and vocals which feels as natural in the soundscape as a cow walking on water. The opening track The Whore, the Cook and the Mother is acceptable. The rest is best forgotten.
