2 stars The proof is in the pudding. Whereas the audio CD of this concert is, at best, poor, the DVD of the same concert has much more value.

WATERS organized this massive concert (attended by over 250,000+ fans) to celebrate the end of The Berlin Wall and to raise money for 'The Memorial Relief Fund' charity. The concert was broadcast to a live audience of over 300+ million. A lot of work went into this huge production, and it shows, even if most of the musical performances is/was really poor!

The sheer scale of the stage show is momentous. The SCORPIONS actually drive onto the stage to perform 'In The Flesh?' in a Limousine. The stretch limousine looks puny, putting the size of the actual stage in perspective, mammoth! As well, seeing UTE LEMPER perform is always a good thing, even with the volume down ;-)

Seeing the music performed live puts a number of the performances in a new light. Case in point: CYNDI LAUPER. Audiowise, her rendition of 'Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 2' is hard to suffer through, but seeing her on tape, shows she is really into her performance. In fact she not only looks good performing, she truly looks like she's enjoying herself. The same goes for THOMAS DOLBY, as for his performance, he is attached to huge (5 metre+) inflatable legs and arms and suspended over 20 metres in the air. Like or dislike this concert, you can't deny the massive amount of effort invested in it by its brainchild (WATERS), its performers, musicians, and right down to the roadies building the enormous almost kilometre long Wall.

As a bonus feature, the DVD includes a short documentary where WATERS and a number of the other creators outline the difficulties staging a show of this magnitude, and the symbolism of this unique historic event.

For ROGER WATERS fans, a definite 3/5 stars, for others, the video of this concert is more of a visual spectacle or curiosity than anything else. Yet the music is still quite lacking so 2/5 stars, for collectors primarily.
