3 stars A very refreshing album from Quebec, Canada.

Sometimes, it feels great to listen to an album like this. An album that sounds like a waterfall. An album with plenty of hormons.

This album comes across as a blend of heavy prog and symphonic prog. The first two songs, that is. Those two songs, the title track and Les Arbres, is also the best two songs here. The French lyrics automatic draws comparisons to another Quebec band; Harmonium. But I do not find this comparison relevant. Jelly Fiche is far more AOR orientated than Harmonium ever was. I would draw comparison with Marillion though. In short; Jelly Fiche can be found somewhere between heavy prog, symphonic prog and AOR.

The instrumentation here is guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, a saxophone and some really good French vocals. The songs are mid tempo to slow.

Most of their stuff is really good here. But the material is pretty anonymous and despite of some superb melody lines interwined with some pretty good stuff, this album really fails to get a lift off into the higher spheres. For me; this is a good album, but nothing more. It is still worthy checking out, though.
