5 stars Wow... what a great debut album by JT! I've been a huge fan of JT since I saw them live at the Rosemont Horizon (Chicago area) on their Underwraps Tour and realized that they were the best live band I had ever seen. By that time I had most of their albums good ones and some bad ones as well, but I had never heard their first album, and after reading so many negative reviews on this album down through the years I never bothered to buy it until recently when I saw it on a deep discount price and decided it was time if nothing else to help me complete my JT collection. When I first played it without headphones on a casual listen it seemed good, not great, but good probably 4 stars. I still thought the low 3 star rating here was definitely too low. Then when I loaded it to my Ipod and listened with my headphones lieing down with lights off and with no distractions whatsoever, that is when I realized that I was listening to some of the best JT tracks ever laid down. This is the type of music that demands the listener to listen and if you really listen to it you will hear the full measure of its beauty and complexity. It is not the simplistic blues rock album that many hear have tried to characterize it as, and I can only assume those who have rated this album so low have not really listened to it with their full attention and I suggest they LISTEN to it again or for the first time and begin to appreciate this JT masterpiece.
